Enormity: John Sommo

Existential Angst: "Existentialism asserts that people actually make decisions based on subjective meaning rather than pure rationality. The rejection of reason as the source of meaning is a common theme of existentialist thought, as is the focus on the feelings of anxiety and dread that we feel in the face of our own radical freedom and our awareness of death.

"Kierkegaard advocated rationality as a means to interact with the objective world (e.g., in the natural sciences), but when it comes to existential problems, reason is insufficient" (source).

Theartofanimation collected this series of paintings by John Sommo (also known as tacosauceninja) on their Tumblr yesterday. These paintings all suggest enormity to me, the grand scale upon which our individual significance pales in comparison.

These are the thoughts that reassure me when faced with the disaster that the Trumptastrophe is making of the U.S.
